Kind of wild to think about dragging around a Panasonic portable VHS recorder in 1979, but good grief this is valuable to know for my current work in progress.
Who here owned VHS recorders?
We had one, much smaller.
Apparently they downsized a couple years later:
1979 was too early for us to own one! We’d select movies at the video rental place, then carry the big metal encased VHS rental unit with its cables, and the instructions laminated on the top.
Oh, and do you remember “be kind, rewind”
Too early? Why?
Yes I remember that for sure. It was a really weird feeling showing the Family Video as this nonextant relic in Stranger Things
