luna park in winter

Luna Park in Winter

And the waitress at IHOP
Was so kind

When we came in goth and giddy
And flushed from the snow

Extra whipped cream
I was eating dirty carrots

Out of my pocket
With a hand in my greasy

Topknot
And you said I looked

Like the kind of girl
Who turns men to deer

When they see her bathing
It was one of those days

When the sky curdled dark
Over the shuttered boardwalk

And we were all
As in love with the world

As we ever had been.
