I’m no SEO guy, but I do hang out with SEO guys often. Here are a few quick things I learned about SEO on WordPress:
- WordPress does most of the hard work, but you should still register. Your domain is registered, all of the metadata is factored in easily, but you still should take advantage of registering for the Google webmasters program. The insights for dead links and keyword rank alone are worth your time.
- Tag more descriptively, less vague.“Wall-E” over “robot,” “Joplin copywriter” over “copywriter,” and “MSFT” over “tech stocks.”
- Rename old tags based on a move. Change your business? Move to a new city? Making your site kid-friendly? Instead of retagging all of your old posts, try renaming old categories to fit your new season of life.
There are others, but those are the best for now.
