Tardigrade Physiology

Here’s where they live:
Hot springs / deep sea / shingles on my roof

Terrestrial Tardigrades adhere to liverworts
and feel most comfortable with a water film

But some have survived in space
Some have been spilled on the moon
tossed carelessly in the lunar dust

They’re ‘dead’ there of course
But a well-aimed droplet from a dropper
might well reanimate them
yawning as they awoke
adorably

It’s not that any extreme environment
is their briar patch

They’re extremophilic

Still, they don’t even
bother to growl
at gamma-ray bursts
or large meteorite impacts

They take them in their
not-quite-microscopic
bear-like
gait-strides

They take them in stride

They take them in concert
with their uniform habits;
their multifarious habits

High dosages of radiation
are to these ones
almost refreshing
