I wanted to find the remnants of a planet in orbit of a star that went super nova. My calculations indicated that by the time the light of this star reached my telescope, it would already be extinct. Thus, I was gazing into the past. Thus, I could see what was occurring on its orbiting planets billions of years ago.

What I saw was a fellow astronomer, with a very similar telescope, looking at a very young Earth, looking back at him. He had the same idea I did. To prove it, he waved a hello greeting.

If only he could have waited another billion years.

He would have seen my hello greeting returned.
