If you’re wondering why Union Square sticky notes have started to fill the walls in between your walk from the 4, 5, 6 trains to the Q, N, R, W lines, it’s a story that starts with an art installation called Subway Therapy.

It soon spread to Atlantic Avenue with a Christian who wanted them to share messages of love. And then John Oliver had the season finale of Last Week Tonight. I’ll post it here to give you context, but fair warning: it’s John Oliver. The name comes stock with a content warning.

So as soon as John Oliver sounded the call for the “This Is Not Normal” notes on your fridge, it compounded with the precedent set by Subway Therapy and here’s what happened with Union Square sticky notes:
